Landscape Photography

1. Where is one place on the internet you might go to better prepare yourself for the location you are shooting at?  Online map service, such as Google Maps. Google Maps show great detail of locations. 2. What is one app you might download to help you when trying to pick the best angle to take landscape photos?   The app Photographer's Ephemeris that will help you predict the angles of sunrise and sunset. Includes features that will tell you the best angles and when to shot your landscape photos. 3. What is the biggest problem shooting with a zoom or telephoto lens? You want to shoot details from a distance to make the foreground and background to appear to be very close together. The biggest problem with these is they distort the photo , making the sequence harder to put together. 4. Instead of using the HDR method you learned in my class, what is another technique the website suggest would be acceptable for compensating for sky and ground? A ND grad filter can capture both d

Merger Photo Preview

1. A problem with these photos could be avoiding mergers and trying to make every photo have a similar background but just with the subject changing throughout the photo. 2. A great place to take this photo could be in the courtyard or on the football field. Somewhere that has a lot of space. 3. Something creative I could do in the photo is complete some sort of action that flows. For example, I could do a cartwheel and show the start to finish process all in one photo. Also I could spell out something, that has a start to finish as well. 4. I could wear something simple, but also stand out. The main focus of this photo is what the subject is doing, so I would want to make myself noticeable.

HDR Photography

1. What manipulations to the camera will you need to make to create an HDR image? You must take multiple photos that are taken at different exposures. You must be able to manually change the ISO and Shutter Speed and different factors in the camera in order to either under expose or over expose your shots.  2. What equipment will we use to take this type of image? The equipment needed is a camera that is able to manually adjust the settings, a tripod to ensure stable shots, and HDR photo blending software.  3. What is the reason someone might take an HDR image? Designed to help people take better looking photos. For example, landscapes have contrast between the sky and land which is difficult for your camera to deal with in just one photo. With HDR, you can capture the sky's detail without making the land look too dark and vise versa.  4. What can we expect to happen with the images once we merge them together, what will we see that we might

Portfolios

Runner Up Videos Travis Haughton Photo of stories Bad quality, cannot see all faces, do not like picture of signs Action shots, full body image shots, interesting backgrounds My overall impression of the photographer is that he takes shots of many different things and that keeps his portfolio interesting. However, some of his photos don’t have a clear subject and are not the best of quality. He could have used more rules of composition in photography within his portfolio. Jordan Murph Sports They like his angles, captures the perfect moments, and good graphic composition Do not like colors merging, often no clear subject, bad lighting, posed action I liked the photographers unique angles and composition when taking the action shots. However, sometimes his subject is not clear and the lighting is not set for a certain photo. Also some of his shots are too staged and should be showing more action. Josh Birnbaum Do not like boring and plain phot

final exam planning

I will shoot this assignment on a weekend, hopefully sometime in the next two weeks  I will shoot this assignment at my house, at the dog park, or somewhere that's outdoors I will be documenting my dog and what she does throughout the day. I want to make it adventurous and exciting to watch.  I will need a camera that can shoot video and take many fast shots at once in order to capture my dog's fast movements and crazy energy  I will use the images for when she is doing something still. By this I mean I will most likely use the images when she is waking up and doing something around the house. Then, I will use the video portion when she is running around at the park and doing something energetic. I will most likely narrate when we are going somewhere new so the viewer will be able to tell where we are and what we are doing.

My opinions story

Standardized tests have been apart of the American education system since the mid-1800s. However, in the last decade these tests have rocketed as the “No Child Left Behind” act was put into action in all 50 states. US students began to slip from being ranked 18th in the world for math, to 27th. Research shows that high-stakes standardized test scores are not valid or reliable. I think that the requirement of standardized tests is not achieving anything but stress and lost confidence in students. Standardized tests takes away focus from the ultimate goal, student success. Also these tests create disadvantages for students who do not have access to the knowledge needed in order to complete these test questions. In fact, standardized tests are biased by social-class, ethnic and other cultural differences. They unfairly advantage those who can afford to prep for the test. Kids who are suffering from poverty do not get the same tools and resources in order to prepare for these te

Personal Essays

1. One idea the writer gave me in the Wide Range of Topics section is, that you must right something that is able to relate to the reader and not just a very personal experience. You want to write about an opinion that can be seen on both sides, or that isn't just relatable to you. This gave me the idea of writing about something school related, such as homework or finals, anything that most kids my age have similar opinions on. 2. The Opinion Pieces section gave me the idea that you need to show the reader rather than just tell them. You want to include the reader and make your experiences specific so they feel involved in the story. If you are vague with your words, then the reader will feel like just an observer and won't be able to connect with your experiences or emotions. 3. Personal Essays and Crafts: 3 Suggestions- - make connections (give personal examples and specific experiences to keep your reader interested) - make sure your hook is very strong, this is wha
