Welcome Back To 2018!
3 Favorite Photos:
1. I picked this as one of my favorite photos of the year because of how emotional and powerful it is. It really lets us visualize and see how bad people have it around the world, and how lucky we are to be in such a stable and safe country. The photo shows the destruction of the world around the little boy and it makes me think of how much I take for granite. This photo overall makes me realize of how blessed I am.
2. I chose this photo as one of my favorites because of how artistic and visually appealing it is to the eye. It shows a great contrast between the warm and cool colors. The volcano's lava appears to be in 3D and expresses great dimensions. Also the lightning strike is very appealing since it is projected onto the black night sky.
3. Lastly, I picked this photo because it has many emotions behind it. This photo is showing Syrians sitting down eating together on a very damaged street in Douma. I liked how all of these people are coming together and making the best of these horrific living conditions they have to endure. Also I liked how the photo shows great leading lines. These lines make the photo more appealing and really emphasizes how many people are gathered together to eat.
Best Song of 2017:
I think the best song of 2017 was Redbone, by Childish Gambino. I liked this song because of how catchy the beat was and how it was a different style and sound than most popular songs these days. Childish Gambino has a great voice that really fits the vibe of the song. Overall, the style of this song really stood out to me and how appealing the beat is.
Best Movie of 2017:
I chose Wonder Woman as the best movie of 2017 because of how well made and exciting it was. The movie was shot in very unique locations that allowed the movie to really come alive and make it more eye catching. Also the story behind Wonder Woman was very cool to follow along and see how she became such a strong and powerful woman.
Most Important News Story of 2017:
I believe the most important news story of 2017 was Trump's travel ban. This was an extremely controversial topic that Trump introduced only after one week of being President. This topic blew up all over the world through the news and social media. This ban triggered a court battle that lasted for about a year. This issue has not been resolved and will continue to be a controversial topic and will most likely be revisited in the 2020 elections.
Most Important Person of 2017:
I believe that the most important person this year was this group of people known as, "The Dreamers." This group of people earned this title the most in my opinion. No they didn't produce the most famous movie this year or they didn't make millions for founding a greatly used social media app, however they are getting impacted greatly. The Dreamers are a group of thousands of undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. by there parents when they were children. There futures are unknown and are in danger by the Trump travel ban. Democrats have even forced a government shut down if the legal status of Dreamers is unresolved.
Biggest Sports Story of 2017:
I think this was a great sports story in 2017. This was the Texas Longhorns vs the Missouri Tigers game. The game was being played the see who would win the Texas Bowl. The Tigers came in very confident with there horns down and were sure they would wipe out the Longhorns. The Longhorns came in ready and didn't say anything about the Tigers just let the game do the talking. And sure enough the Longhorns slammed the Tigers, 33-16.
My Holiday:
1. One thing that was very memorable about my holiday is that I went to see "A Christmas Carol" here in Austin. It was a great musical and was very well down by Zach Scott Theatre. However the very funny yet memorable part was that my dad bought the tickets for the wrong date. but we wanted to see it before Christmas. We waited there just for the chance they would let us in at a different time. We ended up getting to go in and getting front row seats! It started off bad and turned out to be a great experience.
2. My resolutions for 2018 are to make good grades and to focus on my soccer and track activities. I hope to strive in both school and sports this coming year.
3. In 2018, I am looking forward to just having a great year. I hope that this year brings good memories and great opportunities for me.
