Academic Shoot
The composition rule I followed for this photo is balance. The subject's are the two groups of people. They are both the subjects because the groups are very crucial to this image since they are the focus of the photo. The two groups are balancing each other out. People who are looking at this photo may not realize that this image has more than one subject. However, the photo is focused on the two groups, so if people know the rules for balance in a photo then they will know that the groups are both the subjects. I think I could have gotten a different angle in order to make one group stand out more than the other. To really show what the subject was I should have gotten down on there level and focused in on one of the groups with the other more in the back.
This photo shows rule of thirds. The subject is off centered, which allows the photo to be more visually appealing. The subject of this photo is the boy who is following the rule of thirds. I think it is clear that he is the subject because he is the main focus of the image and he appears to be closest to the camera. The other people in the image are just filling up the background while he is the only one in the very front. If people are looking at this photo I think it is obviously who the subject is because the boy in the front is where your eyes get drawn to when you first look at this photo. Although it is pretty obviously who the subject is I think the subject could of stood out more if the background was simple. Without all the people in the background, the picture could have been more simple and easier for the subject to stand out.
This image can also show balance. The girls are all in a triangle shape which evenly balances them all out. The subject of the image could potentially be all of them. However, the girl closest to the camera is more in focus but her back is away from the camera. I definitely think I could have done a better job on showing what the subject in this photo is. I should have taken the photo from the opposite side to at least have all three of the girls facing the camera. When people look at this image they may struggle with finding who the subject is. The photo mainly shows balance rather than having a main subject. Overall, I could have changed the side I took the photo on and it would have been a clearer and more visually appealing photo to look at.
I really like the second picture you shot. The subject's expression helps tell a story. Great job!
ReplyDeleteRachel, these images are decent. I think there is a a general lack of a focal point on each. For example the two sets of girls in the first image. Yes, you have balance and I get the idea, but you shot their backs, so there are no faces for my eyes to gravitate to. The second image is better, but there are also a bunch of people in the background that pull my eyes from your main subject. The third is also a nice solid image, but it is the side of all of their faces. Next time, change your perspective and make sure you get at least one full face in the photo.
ReplyDeleteAlso, only one image was clickable, the other two were not place properly so I couldn't blow them up to get a better look. Make sure next time you place them in blogger properly.
